It is with a very heavy heart that I share the passing of long-time Compass broker and industry veteran, Debra Kameros.

With over 30 years in the business, including nine years at Compass, Debra was a West Village icon, renowned for her wisdom, stellar reputation, and strong morals. She was notorious for her polished yet edgy style, vast market knowledge, positivity, friendliness, warmth, and simply being an all-around incredible person with a heart of gold.

In her personal life, Debra was a mother of two wonderful daughters, whom she loved dearly and spoke about often. She was also a lover of animals, traveling, good food and wine.

I was her manager for nearly five years and got to know her very well. I am honored to have called this strong, smart and inspirational woman my friend.

As we reflect on her incredible legacy, we are reminded of her unwavering professionalism, kindness, and love for her family, friends, and anyone lucky enough to cross her path. Her legacy will continue as her team remains intact. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all. Our thoughts remain with her family during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Debra.

A Note from Arthur Schwartz

I first met Debra around 35 years ago, when we both had a kid at West Village Nursey School, who played at Bleecker Playground. Debra was a powerhouse, and touched hundreds of us in the Village as a broker, who was also a neighbor, and who “got” Greenwich Village. She was a supporter of Village View from the start, and understood the importance of local media. She is someone who will be missed by many.
