We started introducing you to Pets in the Village in January. We thought you may want to know of some of their happenings since you ‘met’ them.

January | Mia, The Dog in Flight
Harry wrote: After three wonderful years running and greeting everyone as they walk by in the West Village, Mia is moving to Tribeca. We have enjoyed every minute of WV life from dog run, walks on the West Side Highway, treats at Pastis and cuddle time at Felice. The Standard Grill will remain one of our favorite Sunday spots, where they reserve Mia a table with a view. We are going to miss our community, especially so many who became family as we were trying to stay sane and raise our dogs through the pandemic. We will be coming back on the weekends as we settle in our new ‘hood. Much love and nose bumps!

February | Bernie, The Rescue Dog
Adam and Sara wrote: Bernie became a big brother to Elle on August 9 and celebrated his fifth “Gotcha Day” on September 22. He was pretty confused for the first couple of days after Elle joined the family but he loves her now and follows us from room to room as we take care of her. He loves giving her kisses — we do our best to keep his licks away from her face but don’t always succeed! Bernie may not be getting as much attention as he used to, but we love him more than ever.

March | Harper, The Jack Russell
Stephan and Corrine wrote: Harper, the quintessential Jack Russell, has blossomed into a charming little rascal, now a tad over one year old. Beyond the typical antics, she’s cultivated an unexpected skill – sailing. Her love for adventure extends, so far, to traversing ten states, France and Germany. Harper thrives in the dog park, forming friendships on her daily walks. Her mischievous streak emerges as she gleefully snatches the remote, goading her humans into a playful chase. Despite a shocking incident with a power cable, Harper’s not a superhero yet, but her neighborhood fame is undeniable. Untrustworthy decisions aside, her vibrant personality has endeared her to the entire community.

March — Lucky and April,
Doris Diether’s Cats
Elissa wrote: Lucky and April feel right at home. They are warm, loving and affectionate. Interestingly, they reflect Doris Diether’s facial expressions and personality. Young April is particularly sensitive to her elderly sister Rosie, comforting her when she is distressed. Four cats are a lot for any human because we only have two hands. Nevertheless, cats well know the double meaning of “pet” and expect us to act accordingly! Only too happy to oblige.

March | Summertime, The Bodega Cat
Willie told us: Summertime is doing fine and she got neutered!

July | Rory, The Tibetan Terrier
Haley and Andrew wrote: Rory has become a regular at the Leroy Street dog park, enjoying playtime with other dogs. Interestingly, he’s developed a habit of sleeping on his back – seems like his new favorite position. For Halloween, he was dressed up as a sheriff, which was a fun sight.

August | Izzy, The Dachshund
Joel and Barbara wrote: Izzy will be two years old on December 19.  He’s still admired by numerous people (especially young women) on his walks.  Just today one of the servers from Spunto ran out to greet him.  And he still rushes up to people who aren’t even paying attention to him, flips over, and begs for tummy rubs.  He’s such a ham! Incidentally, Izzy had his first trip to the “Beauty Parlor” and is now even more beautiful than before!

September | Charlie, the Goldendoodle
Anastasia wrote: Charlie is coming up on two years old! His favorite pastime, as of late, is to watch out the bedroom window for what he considers “threats.” The new neighbors across the way like to pop out onto the fire escape to smoke. He thinks they’re coming to invade our space by the way he cries out with the loudest howls! Nothing like a normal dog bark, these are literal wolf sounds! Everything else is great! Charlie is loving that the baby is getting bigger and eating solids. He’s hoping this means more treats for him find.

November | Rochelle and Lola, Best Friends
Lloyd wrote: Not much to report, but Rochelle had a check-up at the vet yesterday and her health remains generally good.  It was lovely fall weather today and we spent some time at the new beach at Gansevoort Peninsula.  This weekend we’re taking a short trip upstate–with Lola of course!  Lola’s been trying to get Rochelle to play-wrestle, but Rochelle can’t do much. I’ve been picking Rochelle up and gently rocking her left and right in front of Lola’s face, so it’s kind of like they’re wrestling.  They both seem to enjoy it!
