The Thought Police

By Roger Paradiso

“People simply disappeared, always during the night. Your name was removed from the registers, every record of everything you had ever done was wiped out, your one-time existence was denied and then forgotten. You were abolished, annihilated: vaporized was the usual word.” – George Orwell 1984

If Orwell only knew the devious battle to control minds in 2026. The Thought Police want to control everything about you for political gain and consumer impulses. The taxpayer is paying for this dark government stuff. Is it so we allow the gods of Global Internet Finance aka Project 2025, make the most money and have the most influence in our lives?

According to Democracy Forward, “Project 2025’s immigration agenda also doubles down on its overall attack on civil servants and the separation of powers to consolidate authority in the Executive branch.” Didn’t we see this with Hitler and other fascist rulers? ICE is a militia for Donald Trump and his financiers. How could we have elected this group? They did it using social media and algorithms. And they are still doing it. It was no accident that Trump and Elon Musk got together with DOGE attacking civil servants. And it is no surprise that Trump’s militia, ICE, is a criminal organization hunting immigrants all over the country. Why is there no oversight from Congress or protests from SCOTUS?

“The truth is algorithms don’t just reflect your choices — they guide them. So next time when you keep scrolling, watching movies or buying an extra item from Flipkart or an e-commerce website, ask yourself: “Did I really choose this — or did the algorithm choose for me?”

Here is an Artificial Intelligence description of how algorithms shape the political landscape.

AI Overview—Algorithms act as digital gatekeepers in politics, shaping what citizens see and how campaigns are run. They curate personalized social media feeds by prioritizing high-engagement, often polarizing content, and help political campaigns target voters with precision messaging based on digital footprints and data analytics.

Social Media and the Engagement Loop
Platforms rely on algorithms to keep users online longer. Because “outrage” and extreme emotions drive the most likes, shares, and comments, systems automatically amplify this content. Algorithms feed users content that reinforces their exposure to opposing views.

Micro-targeting
By burying traditional news and boosting emotional, activist-driven content, algorithms can subtly shift political attitudes. Instead of casting a wide net, modern campaigns use algorithms for micro-targeting. By analyzing voter data, browsing habits, and purchase history, political teams categorize voters into specific micro-demographics often for persuasion and fundraising.

Misinformation and Foreign Interference
Because algorithms prioritize engagement over accuracy, they are vulnerable to exploitation. Coordinated networks and foreign intelligence services use bots to artificially inflate the visibility of manipulative or polarizing narratives, spreading misinformation rapidly before elections.

And Now X

“The platform, just like every social media platform, is designed with two aims — to maintain engagement of users and to propagate the posts of paid members… In X, the ‘Premium’ Verified members tends to be a more rightward leaning crowd. This has been characterized by an increase in the politicization of the platform…”

Trump and Musk are in an X supported grift game financed by some of the richest people in the country. They believe all is fair in capitalism and politics. There are some who say that capitalism has no right to control free elections in a democracy by broadcasting propaganda over the internet and by donating large sums of money to candidates.

We won’t be able to pass election reforms while Trump and Musk control the Senate, Supreme Court and the social media world. However, we should fight with our own algorithms and grass roots campaigns about jobs, the economy, affordability and all the wars he screwed up. This is how you win and how you stop the corporate takeover of America.
