Scenes from the 2023 NYC Pride March

In what has been an extremely challenging year for everyone’s human rights, members of the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities have seen even a higher rise in both physical and legislative violence, with over 400 anti-LGBTQIA+ bills introduced to restrict the rights and freedoms of those in the communities introduced since the start of 2023. n Throughout Pride month, NYC has held celebrations in every borough, culminating with two primary marches at the end of the month, The Queer Liberation March (a grassroots march held by the Reclaim Pride Coalition) and the traditional NYC Pride March. n The theme for this year’s NYC Pride March was “Strength in Solidarity,” recognizing the continued need for all members of the LGBTQIA+ communities to join together in remembering the history of the movement, celebrating the creativity and ingenuity of individuals while all working together to bring a better future to everyone.
