Joy In The Moment

What a lesson a day can make!

If you have been keeping up with the presidential election, you may have had a variety of thoughts and emotions about the future. You might have been concerned or even worried about what was going on politically on July 20, 2024. But the next day, we received a much different message than we had the weeks before.

It’s one thing to be concerned and another to feel fear. They are both made up of thoughts. Concern is recognizing an uncertain future. In reality, we all have an uncertain future.  Fear also has to do with the future but it is emotional. Thoughts of an unknown future often take you into a dark place emotionally. There is very powerful saying and an antidote to fear. Tell yourself, “I don’t know the future. I can’t go down a road I don’t know. Sure, I’m concerned, but dwelling on a future I don’t know is a waste of time.”

Which brings me to the teaching that is so strong and so true: “Change your thoughts and change your life.” You can! You have the power to do so.

Once you change your thoughts from fear to concern, do what you can to make a difference. Stay in the moment because that’s really all we know now. It’s powerful. I wish you joy in the moment rather than fear of the unknown.
